Write for us
Urban Football Review welcomes pitches from writers with a distinct, well-shaped idea about football in city life. We are interested in clear storytelling and useful explanation, not a match report that could appear anywhere.
What we are looking for
Pitch features about informal play, urban playing spaces, football customs, language, objects or the history of the game in city settings. Strong proposals have a precise subject, an identifiable reader question and a reason the piece matters beyond a single result or passing moment.
A useful pitch
Tell us the working idea, the central point you want to make, the likely shape of the piece and what makes your perspective suited to it. Flag any sources, permissions or image needs that would affect the work. Do not send a full draft unless it has been requested.
Sending a proposal
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include a brief description of your idea and a way for the editorial desk to respond. A pitch is not a promise of publication, and we do not claim to accept every proposal.
A city is part of the pitch
Football changes to fit the spaces and people around it. We pay attention to those changes, from the shape of a game to the habits that let it happen.
